August TV Premieres: DC’s Green Lantern Series, ‘The Shards’ Adaptation, Final ‘Ted Lasso’ Season and ‘Lioness’ Return

HBO Max will debut a new eight‑episode Green Lantern series on 17 August. The show follows intergalactic police John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and veteran Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) investigating a murder in the United States. Nathan Fillion returns as Guy Gardner, with Laura Linney, Kelly Macdonald and Poorna Jagannathan among the cast. Executive producers include James Gunn, Damon Lindelof, Chris Mundy and Tom King.

Disney+ launches “The Shards” on 6 August, a suspense‑drama adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’s 2023 novel, produced by Ryan Murphy and set in 1981 Hollywood. The series stars Kaia Gerber, Homer Gere, Igby Rigney and Hayes Warner, with appearances by Evan Rachel Wood and Wes Bentley. Apple TV releases the fourth and final season of “Ted Lasso” on 5 August, created by and starring Jason Sudeikis, who returns as Ted coaching a women’s second‑division soccer team. Skyshowtime’s “Lioness” returns for a third season on 3 August, featuring Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman as CIA operatives in a program that recruits women to infiltrate terrorist groups.
