Augusta, Italy signs contract for new wastewater treatment plant

Regional deputy Carlo Auteri announced the signing of a contract to build a new wastewater treatment plant in Augusta, calling it a historic step for the city after more than two and a half years of work. He highlighted the collaboration that began with the appointment of sub‑commissioners Fabio Fatuzzo and Cordaro, and involved the regional government, the appointed commissioner, and the municipal administration.

Auteri said he personally coordinated the process, maintaining constant contact between the commissioner, the municipality and regional authorities to speed up procedures. He also praised mayor Giuseppe Di Mare and the city administration for promptly providing documentation and handling objections. The contract fulfills a promise made during the 2022 election campaign to address long‑standing infrastructure gaps in Augusta.
