Augusta National and The R&A confirm 2027 major qualification pathways
Augusta National Golf Club and The R&A have confirmed they will maintain the qualification pathways established for the 2026 championships for the 2027 season. This agreement ensures that winners of six specific national opens will receive invitations to both The Masters and The Open Championship.
The six qualifying national opens are the Scottish Open, Spanish Open, Japan Open, Hong Kong Open, Australian Open, and South African Open. This initiative aims to highlight the global nature of golf by providing international players with direct routes to major tournaments outside of traditional exemption categories.
Additionally, The Open Qualifying Series will continue to offer pathways to The Open Championship. This series includes 19 events across 15 countries, such as the New Zealand Open and the RBC Canadian Open, which provides three qualifying spots for the 155th Open at St Andrews in 2027.
