Augusta Orphanage Board Reconstituted with New Municipal Representatives

Mayor Giuseppe Di Mare of Augusta appointed two municipal representatives to the board of the IPAB Orfanotrofio Parisi Zuppello Santangelo. The appointees are local merchant Rosario Costa and accountant Domenico Pitruzzello, selected on 28 July as part of the regional effort to restore the institution’s governing body.

The orphanage’s board has been inactive since September 2020 and was formally declared dissolved in January 2021, leaving the IPAB under a commissioner’s administration since 2016. The regional Department of Family, Social Policies and Labour initiated the process, aiming to re‑establish a full five‑member council that can manage the orphanage’s assets and social programmes. “The reconstitution of the board is especially significant because the entity has lacked a fully operational collegial organ for almost six years,” the mayor said.
