Augusta police report theft of elderly driver's wallet

A man and a woman have been reported to the Carabinieri in Augusta, Italy, after allegedly targeting an elderly driver. The pair reportedly approached the victim under the guise of offering assistance after his car suffered a mechanical breakdown in the city center.

While distracting the man with the pretense of help, the suspects used the opportunity to steal a wallet from the vehicle's seat. The wallet contained cash and personal documents. Following an investigation and the analysis of local surveillance footage, authorities identified the two suspects, both of whom have prior criminal records. A citizen later found and returned the wallet to the Carabinieri, who have since returned the victim's identity documents to him.
