Augusto Cury emerges as third force in Brazilian presidential race

Augusto Cury, a psychiatrist and best-selling self-help author running for president of Brazil under the Avante party, has emerged as a significant third-party candidate. Recent polling shows his support fluctuating between 6% and 11%, positioning him behind current President Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro.

Cury stated during a podcast interview that he has been approached by representatives of both Lula’s reelection campaign and allies of Senator Flávio Bolsonaro seeking his support for a potential second round. Cury has declined these requests, asserting that his campaign intends to reach the second round itself rather than acting as a deciding factor for the existing polarized candidates.
