Augusto Cury proposes big tech tax and AI integration

Avante presidential candidate Augusto Cury has proposed several controversial measures during recent interviews with TV Globo, Valor, O Globo, and CBN. His proposals include taxing big tech companies, increasing taxation on betting platforms, and replacing public employees with artificial intelligence. Additionally, Cury suggested using drones to combat femicide and transforming ambassadors into digital influencers to improve Brazil’s international image.

Cury also advocated for telemedicine to handle 80% of basic consultations within the Unified Health System (SUS), while denying any conflict of interest regarding his former partnership in a telemedicine firm.

Simultaneously, Cury has experienced an exponential rise in digital popularity. According to the Quaest Digital Popularity Index (IPD), his online presence has nearly doubled in recent weeks. Data from the consultancy Bites indicates that Cury was the candidate who added the most followers to official social media profiles, growing his base by 18%. While there have been private discussions regarding the potential use of bots to inflate his numbers, the IPD utilizes methods to identify and exclude bot activity from its calculations.
