Augustów hosts national World Tourism Day celebrations

Augustów hosted the national celebrations of World Tourism Day from September 22 to 24, bringing together government officials, local authorities, and industry experts to discuss the future of the sector in Poland.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of strategic recommendations for Polish tourism leading up to 2035, developed by Professor Bartłomiej Walas. The document has received positive opinions from the Tourism Council at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the Polish Tourism Organization.

Deputy Minister of Sport and Tourism Ireneusz Raś identified a critical challenge for the industry: a significant labor shortage. He noted that the sector needs to prepare between 100,000 and 200,000 additional workers by 2035, necessitating immediate cooperation with vocational schools and other government ministries.

Magdalena Krucz, President of the Polish Tourism Organization, reported that the first nine months of the year have shown successful results, noting Poland's continued attractiveness and safety for both domestic and international tourists. Local officials, including Podlaskie Voivodeship Marshal Łukasz Prokorym, emphasized goals such as developing the Pisa–Narew tourist route and attracting business and wellness tourists.
