Au/Hallertau begins construction of 9.2 million euro kindergarten

Construction has officially begun on a new kindergarten in Au/Hallertau, located on Schlesische Straße. The project, which involves a 9.2 million euro investment, is designed to accommodate six groups of children.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by local administration representatives, planners, and Mayor Holger Nick. The project follows approximately eighteen months of preliminary planning and municipal council decisions.

The development follows a period of local controversy, as a citizens' initiative had previously opposed the new build in favor of renovating existing facilities. This opposition reached the administrative court but ultimately failed in early 2026. During the ceremony, Mayor Nick emphasized the importance of investing in the future of children while calling for community reconciliation following the intense local debate.
