Aumannplatz redesign plan introduces pedestrian zone in Währing

A new urban redesign concept for Aumannplatz in Währing has been presented. The plan includes transforming Währinger Straße into a pedestrian zone to expand the existing park area.

To accommodate vehicular traffic, driving will be redirected to the Gentzgasse side. The concept incorporates feedback from local businesses, including designated delivery areas, loading zones, a disabled parking space, and a short-term stopping zone for quick shopping.

Additional amenities planned for the space include bicycle racks, hammocks, a book exchange cabinet, children's play areas, and a small stage for readings or concerts. The project also aims to increase greenery with planting beds and 25 new trees. Following a cost estimation and approval by the Währing district council, construction could potentially begin next year.
