AUR deputies call for urgent action amid Romanian political and economic crisis
Members of the AUR party are criticizing the current political and economic state of Romania, calling for urgent action from parliamentarians. Deputy Laura Gherasim issued a critique regarding the lack of a functioning government for over 100 days, highlighting a political vacuum, an energy crisis, and high inflation. She noted that the legislative body remains in recess until September 1, despite looming deadlines for the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
In a separate appeal, AUR deputy and businessman Mohammad Murad called on PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu to help establish a Crisis Cell for the Economy and Romanian Capital. Murad urged representatives from all parliamentary parties to collaborate on a package of measures within 15 days to protect businesses and jobs. He cited alarming statistics, including the loss of approximately 170 jobs daily and the closure of 1,700 companies per day, emphasizing the need for immediate intervention to stabilize the business environment.
