Aura Glass brings glassmorphism redesign to GNOME desktop

Aura Glass is a new community-driven customization package designed to provide the GNOME desktop environment with a comprehensive glassmorphism makeover. Rather than acting as a simple shell theme, the project functions as a unified setup that combines various open-source projects, patches, and CSS adjustments to achieve a sleek, translucent aesthetic.

Key features of the package include dynamic background blur, adaptive accent colors, and optional application window transparency. Users can choose from nine different accent colors during the installation process. The project also offers a lightweight ‘No Blur’ mode to minimize system impact and allows for the theming of the GDM login screen.

Aura Glass is compatible with GNOME Shell versions 48, 49, and 50. It supports several major Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Arch Linux, and CachyOS. While Wayland is the preferred display protocol, X11 is also supported via a fallback blur feature. Installation is managed through an interactive terminal-based shell script.
