Aura Minerals secures $200 million loan for expansion

Aura Minerals has secured a US$ 200 million syndicated loan to support its expansion strategy and increase production capacity. The five-year loan, which includes a two-year grace period, carries an interest rate of SOFR plus 2.70% per annum. Citigroup Global Markets and Itaú BBA served as the joint lead arrangers and bookrunners for the transaction.

The company intends to use the net proceeds for supplier payments and to prepay costs related to the production and marketing of its products. This financing arrives as Aura Minerals pursues a medium-term goal of producing more than 600,000 gold-equivalent ounces annually, a significant increase from its recent production levels.

Key projects driving this growth include the construction of the Era Dorada project in Guatemala, with operations expected to begin in the first half of 2028, and capacity expansions at the Almas and Borborema sites in Brazil. The company's operations are concentrated in gold and copper across the Americas, including assets in Brazil, Honduras, Mexico, and Colombia.
