Aurangabad police dismantle interstate counterfeit currency syndicate
Police in the Aurangabad district of Bihar have dismantled an interstate counterfeit currency syndicate, arresting two individuals and seizing fake notes totaling 2,48,500 rupees. All recovered notes were in 500-rupee denominations.
The operation began following intelligence received by the Aurangabad Superintendent of Police regarding the transport of counterfeit currency. During a targeted vehicle inspection in the Madanpur police station area, officers intercepted a motorcyclist attempting to flee. The individual, identified as 45-year-old Surendra Kumar of Madanpur, was found in possession of 1,48,500 rupees in fake notes.
Following an interrogation, police conducted a raid at Mithaiyan Mod, leading to the arrest of a second suspect, 45-year-old Vijay Yadav from the Gaya district. Yadav was found with 1,00,000 rupees in counterfeit notes. Authorities also seized a motorcycle and two mobile phones used in the operation. Both suspects have admitted to the crime and are being placed in judicial custody as investigations continue to identify other members of the syndicate.
