Australian mining firms report significant gold and mineral exploration progress
Several Australian mining companies have reported significant progress in gold and mineral exploration.
Broken Hill Gold has doubled its exploration footprint in South Australia to over 1,500 square kilometres. The company secured two new licences covering 751 square kilometres, encompassing the historic Manna Hill and Waukaringa goldfields. These areas have seen little modern drilling since the 1990s, providing potential walk-up drill targets near the company’s White Dam project.
In New South Wales, Larvotto Resources reported high-grade intercepts at its Hillgrove antimony-gold project. Drilling at the Clarks Gully prospect returned gold equivalent grades as high as 14.83g/t, alongside significant tungsten trioxide hits. This comes amid a global tungsten supply squeeze and rising prices.
In Western Australia, PLC Resources completed an 1,896-metre drilling campaign at its Rochefort gold prospect in the Murchison region. The company reported intersecting sheared zones of sulphides within targeted dolerite, which aligns with its geological model for a potential new gold discovery. Assays are currently awaiting laboratory results.
