Aurora, Colorado: 500 teenagers cause chaos at shopping center

Approximately 500 teenagers, primarily aged 14 to 17, caused significant public disruption at the Hoffman Heights Shopping Center in Aurora, Colorado, on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The gathering, which appeared to be organized via social media around an unpermitted event involving influencers, was declared an unlawful assembly by local authorities.

As the crowd grew, groups entered nearby businesses, including a King Soopers supermarket and a Burger King. Witnesses and social media footage reported teenagers running through aisles, dancing on tables, fighting, and engaging in theft and vandalism. One worker described the situation as “like a nightmare.”

The Aurora Police Department deployed over 70 officers to disperse the crowd and manage the situation. Police Chief Todd Chamberlain stated that the incident “crossed the line from a gathering of young people into a police matter” due to criminal conduct. While no immediate arrests were made at the scene, an investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible for the property damage and theft.
