Aurora de Chile community releases book documenting women's history

The book “Memorias vivas de las mujeres aurorinas” has been released to preserve the history of the Aurora de Chile community, a riverside neighborhood founded in 1892. The publication compiles the testimonies of thirty women of various ages who have played central roles in the evolution of the community.

The project originated in 2017 through a connection between local residents and the Teatro Biobío team during the theater's construction phase. While the work began as a digital collection of testimonies, a collaborative effort involving the University of Concepción’s Department of Social Work led to the creation of this printed edition.

The methodology included interviews, historical records, and collective cartography to reconstruct the social fabric of the area. According to Priscila Hernández, president of the Aurora Neighborhood Council, the book serves as a collective legacy that highlights the resilience and contributions of women to the development of the territory.
