Aurora Innovation targets 30,000 autonomous trucks by 2030
Aurora Innovation aims to have more than 30,000 trucks equipped with its Aurora Driver platform operating in North America by 2030. The company expects this scale to generate approximately $5 billion in annual revenue.
To achieve this, Aurora plans to transition from its current transportation-as-a-service model, which it intends to limit to 500 trucks, to an asset-light hardware-as-a-service model. This new framework, launched in partnership with Aumovio by the end of 2027, will allow customers to purchase self-driving trucks and pay a per-mile subscription fee for the technology.
By the end of 2026, Aurora expects to operate 200 driverless International Motors LT Series trucks, upfitted by Roush Industries, providing an $80 million annualized revenue run rate. The company anticipates scaling to more than 1,000 trucks and $200 million in revenue by the end of 2027. Aurora also maintains partnerships with Paccar and Volvo Autonomous Solutions to integrate its technology directly into factory production lines.
