Aurora police officer rescues seven residents from house fire

Aurora Police Officer Justin Cebulski rescued seven residents from a burning home on September 21. Arriving at the scene in the 1100 block of North Randall Road before fire department personnel, Cebulski worked to account for all occupants despite a language barrier.

After alerting remaining residents to evacuate, Cebulski discovered a man was still asleep in a bedroom. With flames visible from the roof, the officer entered the residence, forced open a bedroom door, and assisted the sleeping man to safety.

All seven residents evacuated without injury. The Aurora Fire Department arrived shortly after to extinguish flames that had spread into the attic and roof. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
