Italian teen athletes Aurora Tortorelli and Sophia Gissi win multiple medals in track and field

Aurora Tortorelli, a 13‑year‑old sprinter and jumper from San Giovanni Rotondo, added several provincial and regional titles in 2026, including gold in the 60 m (8.30 s) and high jump (1.40 m) at the "Ragazzo e la Ragazza più Veloce" meet, silver in the 50 m (7.95 s) at the Palavesuvio in Naples, and top‑ranking awards such as Atleta Top of the Province of Foggia and a prize at the 18th Gala dello Sport in Vico del Gargano.

Sophia Gissi, a cadette hammer‑thrower from Osa Atletica Saronno, captured gold at the Youth International Athletics Meeting in Malta with a throw of 57.14 m, beating the local favorite and cementing her place among Italy’s leading junior hammer athletes. Both performances were highlighted as evidence of Italy’s growing strength in youth athletics.
