Aurum Resources announces major gold discovery in Boundiali, Côte d’Ivoire
Australian mining company Aurum Resources has announced the discovery of a ‘world-class’ gold deposit in the Boundiali region of northern Côte d’Ivoire. Following two years of exploration, current resources are estimated at between 100 and 115 tonnes of gold, though officials suggest the potential could reach 200 tonnes as drilling continues.
The company plans to begin construction of the Boundiali mine at the end of 2026, with the first gold production expected in the first half of 2028. The project involves an estimated investment of approximately $503 million (roughly 293 billion FCFA).
Operational plans include a processing capacity of 6.8 million tonnes of ore per year. While initial annual production is estimated at 6.2 tonnes of gold, the company aims to scale up to 30 tonnes of gold per year within the next three years. The project is expected to create approximately 4,200 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase and over 2,200 jobs during the production phase.
