Austin City Limits festival faces rain and flood warnings
The Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival, expected to host approximately 450,000 attendees at Zilker Park, faces potential disruptions due to heavy rainfall and flood warnings. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the greater Austin area, with forecasts predicting between 1 and 4 inches of rain, and isolated areas potentially seeing up to 6 inches.
Meteorologists indicate that Friday may be the most impacted day, with consistent rain possible before gates open and scattered showers or storms expected in the evening. While Saturday and Sunday are forecasted to be clearer, significant rainfall may leave the park grounds muddy throughout the weekend.
In response to the weather threat, Governor Greg Abbott has activated additional state emergency response resources to support local officials. Festival organizers are taking precautions, such as clearing drains and accelerating setup schedules, to mitigate the impact of the weather on the event.
