Austin Peay Football to Play Tennessee Volunteers in 2031 Season Opener

Austin Peay State University Athletics Director Jordan Harmon announced that the Governors football team will travel to Tennessee to face the Volunteers in the opening game of the 2031 season. The contest is set for August 31, 2031, at Neyland Stadium and will be the third meeting between the two programs since 2013.

Harmon said, "Scheduling games like this reflects the continued growth and ambition of our football program." The Governors recently recorded their first win against an FBS opponent in 38 years in 2025, defeating Middle Tennessee 34‑14, and previously beat Kansas State in 1987. APSU also has future non‑conference games scheduled at Auburn (2027), Samford (2028), Marshall (2030) and Vanderbilt (2025).
