Austin Spurs name Chris Kent as new head coach

The Austin Spurs have announced Chris Kent as the franchise’s 12th head coach. Kent succeeds Jacob Chance, who departed to become the head coach of Melbourne United in Australia.

Kent brings extensive coaching and development experience to the role. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach and director of player development at his alma mater, Florida State. His previous G League experience includes assistant coaching roles with the Windy City Bulls and the Rip City Remix. Additionally, Kent spent three seasons with the Chicago Bulls organization, starting as a coaching intern in 2018 before serving as a video coordinator.

The Austin Spurs, an affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs, finished their previous season with a 23-13 record, securing third place in the Western Conference and their second consecutive playoff appearance.
