Austin T. James arrested after fatal bicyclist crash in Caddo Parish

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal collision on North Market Street involving a gray sedan and a bicyclist. Emergency responders from Caddo Fire District 1 pronounced the bicyclist deceased at the scene.

Authorities identified the driver of the sedan as 27-year-old Austin T. James. Following a chemical test that indicated he was over the legal limit for alcohol, James was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center. He faces charges of vehicular homicide and a second offense of driving while intoxicated. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
