AUSTRAC suspends Cryptolink registration and halts 96 crypto ATMs

The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) has suspended the registration of Cryptolink Pty Ltd for three months, effective August 9. This regulatory action has forced the company to take its network of 96 cryptocurrency automatic teller machines (CATMs) offline across Australia.

The suspension follows concerns regarding anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) compliance. While Cryptolink had previously satisfied conditions of an enforceable undertaking following a 2025 investigation, AUSTRAC stated the company subsequently failed to meet basic reporting obligations. Specifically, the regulator cited failures in submitting required threshold transaction reports and a failure to respond to formal requests for information.

AUSTRAC CEO Brendan Thomas noted that the regulator remains focused on digital currencies as a money laundering risk, stating the agency had concerns regarding the company’s ability to manage high-risk transactions through its machines. This move follows a previous $56,340 fine and enforcement action against the company in October 2025.
