Lindian Resources and Australasian Metals secure critical mineral assets

Several mining and exploration companies have announced strategic moves to secure critical mineral resources.

Lindian Resources Limited has secured exclusive access and an option to acquire 13,389 metric tonnes of feedstock for its processing facility in Kazakhstan. This move, involving material from the Kangankunde Rare Earth Project in Malawi, aims to establish the company as an integrated rare earths producer. Lindian also obtained 12 months of exclusivity over an additional 120,000 metric tonnes of unextracted material, potentially providing access to over 28,000 metric tonnes of raw material.

Australasian Metals has secured a three-month option to acquire majority interests in the Atex and Alliance lithium-tantalum and lithium projects in Côte d’Ivoire from Firering Strategic Minerals. The Atex project has shown historical lithium mineralisation over 800 metres of strike. The acquisition is intended to provide a strategic position in the emerging West African lithium sector.

In Australia, ActivEX Limited reported significant rare earth element anomalism at its Aramac Project in Queensland following soil sampling. Meanwhile, Argosy Minerals has launched a Share Purchase Plan to raise up to $0.5 million to fund feasibility and engineering studies for its Rincon lithium project.
