Australia names 13-man Test squad with Cummins, Hazlewood, Lyon returning for Bangladesh series

Cricket Australia announced a 13‑player squad for the two‑Test World Test Championship series against Bangladesh in August. Captain Pat Cummins, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood and veteran off‑spinner Nathan Lyon have all been cleared after long injury absences and are back in the lineup. The matches will be staged in Darwin (13‑17 August) and Mackay (22‑26 August).

The squad also includes Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Jake Weatherald, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Beau Webster and other specialists. Usman Khawaja has retired, leaving the opening batting spot to be contested by Weatherald and Head, while Michael Neser, Todd Murphy and Brendan Doggett were omitted. Selectors’ chairman George Bailey praised the trio’s rehabilitation efforts.

Bangladesh’s preparation was hampered by a side‑strain injury to fast bowler Nahid Rana, who is expected to miss the series, adding a further challenge to the host nation’s campaign.
