Australia and New Zealand ministers to discuss cruise tourism and industry growth

Australian Tourism and Trade Minister Don Farrell has announced plans to meet with New Zealand Tourism Minister Louise Upston in September to discuss the cruise industry. Farrell noted that cruise tourism is a vital component of the industry that drives visitation across regional areas. This upcoming meeting follows previous discussions regarding the need for greater collaboration between the two nations to promote regional cruising.

Separately, New Zealand Tourism Minister Louise Upston has endorsed the ‘Tourism 2050’ strategy released by Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA). The strategy aims to outline the sector's long-term growth, focusing on regional prosperity, connectivity, competitiveness, and the integration of data technology and AI. Upston stated the strategy aligns with the government's Tourism Policy Statement, which seeks to deliver increased value for New Zealand while benefiting local communities and the economy.
