Turkish National Arrested with 12 kg Cocaine at Bangkok Airport

Thai customs officers seized more than 12 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside coffee and chocolate packets at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on 25 June 2026. The drugs, valued at about 36 million Thai baht (≈50 million Turkish lira), were found in the luggage of a Turkish citizen arriving from São Paulo, Brazil. The suspect was detained and handed over to Thailand’s Narcotics Crime Suppression Bureau for investigation, with authorities saying the case may be linked to an international smuggling network.

The bust is part of a broader crackdown: from 1 Oct 2025 to 25 June 2026, Thai customs conducted 214 drug‑related operations, arrested 53 suspects and seized narcotics worth over 692 million baht. Cocaine, though less common than methamphetamine, continues to be a priority target for Thai law‑enforcement agencies.
