Australia announces multicultural community and festival grants

The Australian Government has opened the second batch of the Infrastructure for Multicultural Communities grants, providing up to $41.6 million to support community facilities. Eligible projects include the construction or upgrade of community hubs, libraries, museums, arts spaces, and sporting facilities. Funding is structured into three streams: amenity projects ($20,000–$100,000), small to medium infrastructure ($100,001–$500,000), and large-scale projects ($500,001–$1.5 million). The Department of Home Affairs noted that priority will be given to emerging multicultural communities and projects benefiting multicultural women, LGBTIQA+ individuals, and people with disabilities.

Separately, the Queensland Government has launched a $500,000 grant round through the Celebrating Multicultural Queensland program. This initiative offers grants of up to $20,000 to support community festivals, cultural celebrations, and intercultural sporting events scheduled between July 1 and December 31, 2027. Minister for Multiculturalism Fiona Simpson stated the program aims to strengthen community connections and celebrate the heritage of Queenslanders from over 220 countries.
