Australia beer prices rise to $13.76 average per pint
The average price of a pint of beer in Australia has risen from $9.96 in January 2020 to $13.76 nationally, increasing by nearly $1 every 18 months. Data provided by Square indicates that price hikes were most significant following the end of pandemic lockdowns in 2022, when most prices rose by approximately 10 percent.
Melbourne is identified as the most expensive city for several popular beers, including Balter XPA, Guinness, Carlton Draught, Carlton Dry, and Great Northern Super Crisp. Conversely, Perth is generally the most affordable capital city for purchasing these beverages. Experts suggest that lower prices in Western Australia may indicate targeted discounting to penetrate that specific market.
