In Northern Queensland, the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network has deployed mobile telehealth carts to 39 residential aged‑care homes, providing high‑definition video consultations and specialised clinical tools. Enrolled nurse Julia Mayne has taken a lead role in operating the carts, saying, “I was really excited when the cart arrived, knowing that this will change the opportunity for our residents without them having to leave the facility to liaise with appointments,” and noting that residents feel “supported by having access to their GP and specialist with a face‑to‑face appointment.” The technology is being used for oncology, palliative care and social calls, reducing travel stress and isolation for seniors.

In Newcastle, local support‑at‑home providers are promoting in‑home aged‑care services that let older Australians remain independent. The offerings include personal care, nursing, allied health, social companionship and home maintenance, all tailored to individual needs. By delivering care in familiar surroundings, these services aim to improve physical and mental wellbeing while reducing the need for residential facility placement.
