Australia expands disability sports inclusion with 'Every Body Moves' program

Disability Sports Australia, supported by the Australian Sports Commission, has launched the national ‘Every Body Moves’ series in partnership with health insurer Bupa. The free program will run from 2026 across major urban centres such as Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney, offering inclusive sporting activities for people of all ages and abilities. CEO Ayden Shaw and Bupa director Bronwyn Portes highlighted the aim to break down barriers, create clear pathways into community sport and foster healthier, more inclusive neighborhoods.

In a related initiative, a multi‑day sports camp introduced children and adolescents with disabilities to fourteen summer Paralympic sports, including badminton that will feature at Milan 2024. Coaches and classification specialists provided hands‑on experience and guidance, helping participants identify suitable sports and linking promising athletes to regional development programs. The camp seeks to build confidence, retain youth in sport and strengthen the pipeline toward elite Paralympic competition.
