Australia expands public preschool infrastructure and funding

New public preschool developments are underway across Australia to expand early childhood education access. In New South Wales, 25 new facilities are being established, with all 100 planned state preschools expected to open by early next year. In the Illawarra region, enrolment expressions of interest are now being accepted for new sites at Cringila and Lake Heights. These facilities are designed to accommodate 40 children per day each, operating on a five-day fortnight attendance pattern.

In South Australia, the state government has allocated $15 million for two new preschools in Two Wells and Evanston Gardens. These projects, set to open in 2028, are part of a larger $60 million investment aimed at creating nearly 500 preschool places across Adelaide’s northern suburbs. The expansion includes eight other planned or existing projects in areas such as Elizabeth Downs, Munno Para, and Salisbury North to support growing populations of young families.
