Australia expands trade and investment partnership with Tanzania and Kenya

Australia and Tanzania met in Dar es Salaam, where Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Ngwaru Maghembe and Acting High Commissioner Andrew Barnes agreed to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, energy and mining. Both sides highlighted the US$510 million Mahenge Graphite Project, a joint venture between Black Rock Mining and the Tanzanian government, as a model for future economic collaboration.

In a parallel effort, Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing'Oei visited Australia under the Special Visitors Programme. Discussions with Australian officials and business leaders focused on expanding trade, investment, renewable energy, agriculture, higher education and digital technology, as well as maritime security and cyber resilience. Both countries seek to create jobs and attract Australian capital to support their economic transformation agendas.
