Australia Father’s Day spending projected to reach $730 million
Research from the Australian Retail Council (ARC) and Roy Morgan indicates that Father’s Day spending in Australia is projected to reach approximately $730 million. This represents a modest increase of $10 million, or 1.4%, compared to the previous year.
While the number of shoppers is expected to rise to 5.5 million people—representing 23% of the population—this participation rate remains lower than the 35% and 36% recorded in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Despite the increase in the number of participants, the average amount intended for spending per person has declined by 6.9%, dropping from $145 to $135.
Fleur Brown, ARC chief industry engagement officer, noted that while more Australians plan to purchase gifts, the decrease in individual budgets suggests that consumers are prioritizing value due to ongoing pressure on household finances.
