Australia fishing expert identifies top regional spots

Filmmaker and fishing expert Al McGlashan has identified several premier fishing locations across Australia, ranging from urban waterways to remote wilderness areas.

In Sydney Harbour, NSW, McGlashan notes that despite pollution concerns, the area remains a scenic and productive spot hosting over 600 species. Anglers can find Australian salmon, jewfish, and albacore tuna in offshore waters during winter.

In Victoria, Port Phillip Bay is highlighted for its annual snapper runs, as well as garfish, salmon, King George whiting, squid, and flathead. McGlashan observes that because there is little hard reef in the bay, snapper tend to move widely between areas such as Altona and Mornington.
