Australia flood aftermath: Dozens of snakes found in Clybucca shed
After being evacuated due to severe flooding in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, resident Julie Botfield discovered a significant snake infestation upon returning to her home in Clybucca.
In late May 2025, rapid rising waters forced Botfield and her family to flee their property near Kempsey by boat. When the floodwaters receded approximately ten days later, Botfield returned to find her property covered in mud and debris. Upon inspecting her low-lying shed, she discovered as many as 30 snakes had taken refuge inside the structure during the period the house was unoccupied.
Due to the danger posed by the large number of snakes, Botfield sought assistance from Brenden Kendall, a local resident with experience in snake relocation, to safely clear the premises.
