Australia launches 2026 Retirement Living Survey to capture seniors' views

Ageing Matters, in partnership with National Seniors Australia, has opened the 2026 Retirement Living Survey, a national study inviting older Australians to share experiences about where and how they choose to age. The survey covers living arrangements such as staying at home, downsizing, moving to retirement villages or accessing support services, with a particular emphasis on the growing preference for ageing in place. Findings will be compiled into independent research reports and shared with industry leaders, service providers and policymakers to help shape future planning, services and legislation.

The initiative aims to address the reported gap between seniors' needs and the sector’s delivery, giving a stronger voice to older Australians in decisions that affect daily life, health care access, social connections and community engagement.
