Australia names gymnastics team for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Australia has announced its artistic gymnastics squad for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, mixing veteran medallists with a group of debutants. Leading the women’s side is multiple Commonwealth Games champion Georgia Godwin, who returns after missing the Paris 2024 Olympics with an Achilles injury. She said, “To be named to my third Commonwealth Games team is incredibly special.” Her teammates include two‑time Games medallist Emily Whitehead, Birmingham 2022 silver medallist Breanna Scott and gold‑and‑silver medallist Kate McDonald. Rising talent Ruby Pass will make her Commonwealth debut.

The men’s team is headed by Jesse Moore, who competed in Birmingham 2022, and features debutants Benjamin Foster, Tru Hagens, James Hardy and Ritam Malik. Moore remarked, “I’m honoured and proud to be leading the men’s team.” Team Chef de Mission Petria Thomas and Gymnastics Australia CEO Alistair Edgar praised the balanced roster, noting its blend of experience and emerging talent.

The selection positions Australia for a strong showing on the Commonwealth stage in Glasgow, with several athletes targeting medals across individual and team events.
