Australia Post to open $500 million Parcel Super Hub in Adelaide
Australia Post has broken ground on a $500 million, 83,000 sq m parcel super hub on the former Holden factory site at Elizabeth, South Australia. The facility is scheduled to start operations in late 2028 and will be the first fully integrated Australia Post and StarTrack hub.
When completed, the hub will process up to 400,000 parcels per day—double the throughput of the existing Adelaide Airport parcel facility. It will rely on autonomous vehicles and robotic pallet‑movers to transport pallets, cages and containers and to assist with parcel induction, reducing manual handling and improving workplace safety.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by South Australian Acting Deputy Premier Nick Champion and Pelligra Group Chairman Ross Pelligra, who highlighted the project’s role in revitalising the former car‑manufacturing site and creating new industrial jobs.
