Australia gains control in series-deciding Test against South Africa

Australia has taken a significant advantage in the third and final Test against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town. After South Africa posted a first-innings total of 329, Australia responded with a strong performance to reach 429, securing a 100-run lead.

Josh Inglis was a standout performer, scoring a century (102) and anchoring the middle order. He shared a crucial 185-run partnership with Alex Carey, who contributed 80 runs. Earlier in the innings, Matt Renshaw scored 74 and Cameron Green added 65, helping steady the side after South African spinner Simon Harmer removed Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne in quick succession.

In South Africa’s second innings, Australia’s bowling attack, led by Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon, kept the hosts under pressure. Starc claimed two key wickets, including Aiden Markram and Marques Ackerman, while Lyon dismissed captain Temba Bavuma. South Africa reached 140 for four at the close of play on the third day, trailing by 40 runs.
