Australia recalls Toy Story 5 collector cups over choking hazard
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued an urgent recall of Toy Story 5 collector cups sold by Hoyts Cinemas after a manufacturing defect was identified. The cups, featuring figurines of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and LilyPad, can have their toppers snap off and break into small pieces if dropped, pulled or twisted, creating a choking risk. The ACCC warned of a “risk of serious injury or death” for children who might swallow the fragments.
The cups were available nationwide in Australia, both in Hoyts cinema venues and online, between 16 and 29 June 2026 and were manufactured in Taiwan. Customers are instructed to stop using the cups immediately, keep them out of children’s reach, and return them to any Hoyts location for a full refund. Further assistance can be obtained by contacting Hoyts directly.
