Australia reinstates Anna Meares as chef de mission for LA 2028

Anna Meares, the four-time Olympian and former chef de mission for Australia during the Paris Olympics, has been reinstated to lead the Australian team for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Following Australia’s successful performance in Paris, where the nation finished fourth on the medal tally with 53 total medals, the Australian Olympic Committee has tasked Meares with preparing for the logistical challenges of the upcoming games.

Meares is currently conducting site visits in Los Angeles, including touring the UCLA campus, which is slated to serve as the main Olympic village. Key concerns for the 2028 games include Los Angeles’s significant traffic and transportation infrastructure, though organizers are expected to implement dedicated Olympic lanes to mitigate congestion.
