Australia Rugby League World Cup fullback selection battle

Australia Kangaroos captain Isaah Yeo has commented on the competition for the fullback position ahead of the Rugby League World Cup opener against New Zealand. Coach Kevin Walters faces a decision between Reece Walsh and James Tedesco for the starting role.

Walsh, who has been sidelined since August due to an ankle injury, participated in training sessions at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence. Yeo noted that Walsh’s ability to create opportunities provides confidence to the squad. Meanwhile, Tedesco has been managing a lighter training load following his recent premiership success with the Sydney Roosters.

The tournament opener is scheduled for Thursday at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.
