Australia sees record number of citizens over 65 in workforce
Australia is seeing a significant shift in retirement patterns as more baby boomers remain in the workforce. Currently, more than 760,000 Australians aged over 65 are employed, marking the highest level since the Australian Bureau of Statistics began tracking the data in 1995.
According to Terry Rawnsley, director of planning and infrastructure economics at KPMG, the trend of older citizens working is accelerating. While only one in 10 men were working at age 70 two decades ago, that figure has risen to one in four today.
