Australia tops 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships medal standings

Australia dominated the 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships held in Niseko, Japan, securing the top position in the medal standings. The Australian team earned a total of 17 medals, including the highest number of gold and silver medals.

The United States finished second overall with 16 total medals, highlighted by leading the field in bronze medals with six. Poland took third place with 13 medals, which included a victory in the team relay event.

In individual competition, Italian cyclist Elis Simeoni secured a second-place finish in the women’s 19-34 age category. Competing on a 140 km course with 2,200 meters of elevation gain, Simeoni finished just four seconds behind the winner. This podium result followed her return to competitive cycling after recovering from myocarditis.
