Australia trade and technical roles offer six-figure salaries

Data from Seek indicates that several technical and trade roles in Australia offer six-figure salaries without requiring a university degree. Annual advertised salary growth is currently at its fastest pace since February 2024. Tasmania has recorded the highest year-on-year growth at 5.6 per cent, while New South Wales has seen a 4.3 per cent increase.

The construction industry is among the fastest-growing sectors for advertised salaries, rising by 5.2 per cent, while the mining, resources, and energy sectors have grown by 4.5 per cent. Seek Chief Economist Dr. Blair Chapman noted that while these roles do not require degrees, they often demand substantial training, licenses, or specialized on-the-job experience.

Top-earning roles identified include Heavy Diesel Fitters ($167,210), Automotive Electricians ($163,611), and Construction Site Managers ($151,099). Other high-paying positions include Healthcare Facilities Managers, Forepersons, Maintenance Managers, and Electricians.
