Australia: Woman fined 1.30 lakh rupees after shower steam triggers fire alarm
An Indian woman living in Australia, identified as Vamika, was reportedly charged approximately 1,800 to 1,900 Australian dollars (roughly 1.30 lakh Indian rupees) after a five-minute shower triggered a building-wide fire alarm.
According to Vamika, she took a hot shower without turning on the bathroom exhaust fan due to the cold weather. The resulting steam accumulation is believed to have activated the fire detector. The incident led to the fire service being alerted and the building being evacuated. Vamika shared her experience on social media, expressing surprise at the high cost of the fine for an incident involving steam rather than actual fire or smoke.
